Values of setting Goals Part two

There is no past or future for the law of attraction, only the present, so stop referring to your life in the past as very difficult, or full of hardship and pain, or in any other negative way.

Remember that the law only operates in the present, so when you speak of your past life negatively the law is receiving your words and sending those things back to you NOW.

May the joy be with you, - Rhonda Byrne

imageThere is a balance to be achieved between working on all areas that need attention, not just  working on one area. To Focus on multiple areas can be distracting leading to little being achieved. Focusing on one area alone, also has its downsides. Not only can it impact negatively on your work and life balance, but over focussing can lead to a mixed outcome.

You may have or be experiencing a situation where you wanted something so much that it became crucial to you that you had that “one thing” in your life. It could be anything at that crucial moment, like: promotion, a new job, a new house, or even a new partner. When you find yourself attached to a particular result, you may find that it often gets in the way of your true ideal result. One way of "letting go" of your attachment is to spread your focus by having one or two other key goals, but not too many or you will lose your focus.

Once you have your top two or three areas, the next step is to set ONE goal that is going to really inspire you in each of these areas. Defining an inspirational goal is a challenging exercise to do alone. A coach or mentor who is experienced in working with people to define really inspiring goals can really help with this process.

As Coach & Mentor at “Mentoring For Free”  I can help you through times of change and goal setting

A goal that is hugely inspiring for any one has an energy of its own.  For example; what happens when a surfer rides a powerful wave. Once on the big wave, all a surfer needs to do is focus and balance and he will be carried to the shore - without the need to do much more. If the surfer wants to reach the road from the shore, the surfer will need to take some action!

.

It can be daunting when you have something in an area of  your life, but  are resistant to setting a goal in that area. It is a fact that quite often this resistance is in a place where you do not  want to take action on something, in case you do not get what they want, this is a failure in your own faith and belief. This can be any situation where you have tried many things without success. Starting your own Network Marketing Business is a goal, but you have to believe in yourself that this will be solved not only by taking action but with your faith in the goal you have set.

What makes a powerful goal?

INGREDIENTS

Imagine you are baking a cake which has more than one ingredient of courseimage, decide which is the most essential ingredient , just like setting a goal you need to put this ingredient in first, thus a goal has been achieved, not a big one but a necessary one to complete the task. To lose weight after you have eaten  this perfect cake designed and worked from a set of goals, is another powerful goal to achieve.  The  inspiration to achieve this goal or goals shows what magic there is in your own belief and you will see how the magic of goal setting starts to flow.

“Challenging” another important ingredient next to “Inspiration” you need to achieve the correct level of challenge if you wish to succeed in the goal.  Many of us are inspired by this some of us are a little daunted at having set  ourselves a challenge because you now have to follow through.  There are those of us who feel to much of a challenge will be counter productive and not take any action, as you will intently or not in your mind feel that this will never happen!!   Now you need to step back and make adjustments to your perspective or to your goal.  I personally come from a place where everything is possible not letting the wrong ingredient come into my recipe of success, thus encourage you to do the same.  You now have to forget the past experiences, what we did or could not do, times have changed and you have learned new experiences that could not have been foreseen now move forward!

imageA challenging goal doesn't necessarily make it difficult to achieve. A good  example is my own busy mind and life, if  left to my own devices forgetting about my own goals I would be mulling over to many things in my mind and lose sight of the recipe to complete the tasks I need to, reminding myself of one task at a time and move forward,  with more self confidence and belief thus leading to the ability to take on more than one goal at a time.

Opportunity
That is one of the tricks of opportunity. It has a sly habit of slipping in by the back door, and often it comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat. Perhaps this is why so many fail to recognize opportunity.

- Napoleon Hill

Goal setting will encourage you to go for something realistic within a specific time imageframe. If making a goal realistic means that some of the inspiration is lost - then go for the inspiration.  From the start, a goal could be considered to be unrealistic if set too short or too long, you have to decide the time frame unless of course it is a gaol for the future!   Have a short term goal to start (perhaps a bite from the long term goal) and focus, the longer term goal is the one that truly excite and inspire you to be motivated enough for this to work.

In ALL cases, it makes sense to frame goals in the “Positive”. There are times when a goal which appears to be expressed in the negative can be more motivating to some people like accepting a problem one already has, this is the easy route to take, because it is harder to fight the problem, Too many of us prefer this route instead of thinking with a positive mental attitude.

Go for goals that cam be measured within your time scale and target, this will encourage you to start, but remember to think long term and the main goals will fall into place.  Not only is a measured goal motivational, but with the coaching from your Mentor (at Mentoring For Free) you will know how close or how far you are from achieving the goal, at any point in time.

Should you be unable to achieve the goal that you originally set, can be for many reasons but most of the time it is because you changed your mind. What you set out to achieve initially, no longer holds the same interest for you. For those of you that are more spiritually minded, it can be useful to include a caveat - to your goal setting, particularly when you find yourself  attached to the goal you set and the outcome. This can take the form of a simple sentence which can be added to a goal list like;  "Achieve my goal....on or whatever phrase or system you use to remember and give yourself a pat on the back, or buy a little gift to celebrate your achievement, remember you are worth it!

imageIt is only a matter of time until the goal you set becomes yours. There is likely to be many levels and periods of learning and achievements on your path from the moment you set your goals, “Stay Focused”. Keeping a note of your experiences and achievements will help you to remember where you came from to what you have achieved to date. It is a know fact that all human beings are good at forgetting, so it is easy for us to dismiss our achievements. However valuable goals setting is. What ever the outcome, I find it empowering to remember that "Life is a journey, not a destination".
