Values of setting goals Part one

Don’t be afraid to aim high when choosing your life’s goal, for no matter how high you aim, your achievements may fall below it.

Many businesses today advocate “continuous improvement” as part of their quality programs. They have realized that to remain competitive in today’s global economy they must constantly strive to improve every aspect of the business, otherwise they will be overtaken by the competition. The same ethic applies to individuals. All of life is a continuous learning experience. Every success and every temporary setback only serve to prepare you for the time when you will eventually prevail. Your short- and medium-term goals should be realistic and achievable, but your long-term goals should always far exceed your present capabilities. As the Roman poet Virgil said, “Fortune sides with him who dares.” - Napoleon Hill

What value do we place on setting goals?

imageBelief in the power of setting goals brings about results you desire or want to achieve in your life!  It has to be an even 100% if you really want the the achievements you look for.  These can be seen in our everyday life, whether family, friends or business colleagues or your own life.  The beauty is that you are never too old or too young to set goals and reap the benefits from them, I guarantee they will change your life for ever.  It is your decision.

Your goals could be anything from: passing an exam, buying your new home or dream car, even if you are playing a sport and you need just one more on the score board, it will give you the energy and desire to be a winner or even owning your own Networking Business working from home, anything you desire you can have.

Jon Covey tells his readers to "start with the end in mind" - and when we set a goal we are doing just that.

Why set Goals, what is the purpose?

So many people go through their lives lost and without clear direction, making us all subject to the storms and winds in the sea of life. Lack of direction often leads to feelings of stress and anxiety, poor concentration levels, lack of confidence, and living life from a place of being reactive rather than proactive. What matters the most is that people without goals often have little determination, patience or tenacity.

When you set and achieve a goal, you have an opportunity to pat yourself onimage the back. Even if you don't achieve exactly what you set out to do, a small improvement is better than no improvement. While you grow in your own achievements you will notice along the route of improvement there will be numerous more achievements  and more to learn along the way, so that you can acknowledge yourself for. All this helps build self esteem.

For those who are serious about sport, or who are running a business or even have a senior role within a company, setting goals is an essential ingredient to success. The only problem is not everyone does it. It may take a conversation with a coach, or business advisor or a mentor to get them thinking along these lines.

Transformation of the intangible impulse of desire into the tangible reality of money calls for the use of a plan, or plans.- Napoleon Hill

How do you set goals?
imageSetting goals is a very easy process to do at its simplest level. Spend a lot of time designing your own goals “make them personal”  to you, this will help you focus on the most important areas of your life, remember what is important today may not be in a few month's time, but do not lose your focus, tomorrow is another day!  Remember to do a self analysis often and if you so desire use a scoring system like 1 out of 10 and 1 being the least important, so how do you rate this goal?

Dreams fade away because we can’t tolerate the short term pain necessary to get to our long term goal.
